Challenge

The personal care category is dominated by clinical claims, functionality, and odor-control messaging.

Rollr’s challenge was to cut through this noise without getting lost in a list of technical USPs (sustainable, natural, refillable). To succeed, the brand needed to shift the conversation from what the product does to how it makes the user feel, establishing it as a premium lifestyle object rather than just a bathroom essential.

Goal

The objective was to launch Rollr by reframing the entire category. This required: Moving beyond functional marketing to create emotional resonance. Leveraging the product’s unique physical design as a key brand asset. Positioning the brand as a "design-forward" wellness icon that users would be proud to display.

The impact

Rollr’s launch successfully carved out a "category of one" within the personal care space:

Elevated Brand Perception: Rollr is now viewed as a design-forward lifestyle object, allowing it to compete in both high-end beauty and wellness markets.

Expanded Organic Advocacy: The visually arresting identity encouraged influencers and customers to share the brand organically, leading to significant earned media exposure and community growth.

Strong Market Differentiation: In a crowded sector defined by “sameness,” Rollr’s distinctive visual and narrative approach helped it secure premium retail placements and command an aspirational price point.

The approach

Against Ordinary developed a launch strategy centered on the concept: "Change Your Perspective."

Reframed the Category: We shifted the narrative from “applying deodorant” to “savouring a ritual,” positioning Rollr as a sensory experience that elevates the start of the day.

Made the Packaging the Hero: We used the distinctive ribbed glass packaging as the core of the visual identity. This created a recognisable brand language that felt premium, tactile, and ownable.

Crafted Emotional Narratives: Instead of technical benefit lists, we created content that focused on the “moments of beauty” in the everyday, inviting consumers to crave the experience of using the product.

Built a High-End Social Presence: We curated a sensorially-rich aesthetic designed to spark curiosity and align with the beauty and wellness sectors rather than just personal hygiene.
